Cellulite Reduction

Cellulite is a skin condition that is rarely seen in men, but affects nearly 80% of women over the age of 20.  Cellulite is a common term that has been used to describe the lumpy or dimpled appearance of skin that some individuals get on their thighs, hips and buttocks.  Genes, gender, age, thickness of skin and body fat all factor in to the presence of cellulite. Originally thought to be linked with obesity, it has since been discovered that this is simply untrue; those with slim figures will often have the same cellulite symptoms as those who are overweight or obese. Cellulite most often results from poor circulation, enlarged fat cells and defective connective tissue.

Cellulite develops in the subcutaneous level of skin tissue below the epidermis. Fat cells that are found in subcutaneous skin tissue are arranged in chambers which are surrounded by connective tissue. When your body retains water, fat cells expand within their chambers which cause the connective tissue to stretch. This stretched connective tissue will eventually harden, causing the effected skin to diminish in elasticity, while the non-effected skin continues to expand around it.   When the connective tissue hardens, toxins that are normally expended by the body become trapped within these cells.  This results in the skin taking on a lumpy, dimpled appearance of cellulite.

The only way to reduce visible cellulite is to loosen the toxins from these cells so that the body may eradicate them.  While cellulite is an ever-growing concern for many women today, there are several ways that women can work to naturally reduce the appearance of cellulite on the body.   The main keys to preventing cellulite growth are maintaining a healthy and balanced diet, reducing tension, exercising and increasing overall body circulation. But for those fighting a continuing battle, all cellulite treatments can help to reduce the appearance of cellulite within the body.
